Three hundred years ago the moon cracked. Where its shards fell, the mountains hollowed. Now the Hollowing is coming up the mountain, and it takes names first.

Hollowmoon is a classic roguelike in the tradition of ADOM, played in your browser. No download, no account.

The game remembers your dead. You are the eighth expedition the Lantern Compact has sent into the Vaults. When you die, the ninth will find your grave in the village, and your bones, and your sword, on the landing where you fell.

The world forgets. You have ninety days. As they run out, the villagers lose their words, then lose each other. One day someone is simply gone, and only you remember they were there.

What's in it

  • 18 races and 21 professions, each with its own reason to be here
  • A village with people who need things: 47 quests, with chains, hidden quests and choices that close other doors
  • The seventh expedition's journal, a page on each of the first nine landings, and what it warns you about on the ninth
  • A wilderness, more settlements, and seven dungeon branches, each guarding one of the moon's Seven Names
  • The Hollowing: permanent marks that change your character. A Riftbound turns every one into a weapon
  • Three endings. It is winnable

New to roguelikes? Press s on the title screen for a quick start. Numbers or arrows move, ? lists every command, and death is permanent: that's the point. The game saves in your browser as you go.
